"McMillen Burke presents a body of work inspired by tribal textile traditions and their common symbolism. Power, protection from evil, family tradition and the tree of life, are all themes that resurface in global textiles and connect us as humans. This series of large, colorful watercolors is inspired by four specific types of textiles; Otomi embroideries, Balinese tapestries, Indian Toran wall hangings and Suzani embroidery from Central Asia."
