Adam Szymczyk, director of Switzerland's Kunsthalle Basel, is the fifth winner of the award established in 2001 in honor of founding director Walter Hopps (1932-2005). The biennial prize recognizes curators in early to mid career who have made significant contributions to the fiels of contemporary art.
