Celebrating the West Texas A & M University (WT) Centennial in 2010, the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum presents Ten in ’10, which highlights and discusses ten artists and art teachers associated with the university. The most notable artist associated with WT is Georgia O’Keeffe who taught there from 1916-1918. Among the paintings included in the exhibition is an O’Keeffe titled From the Plains I (1953) from the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio as well as two other O’Keeffe paintings and the museum’s own Red Landscape, one of four oils created while in Canyon. The exhibition will include about 70 works of art from the Museum’s collection as well as borrowed works from public and private collections.
