The Amon Carter Museum in Ft. Worth has loaned two of its best paintings to the Met: Swimming by Thomas Eakins and Idle Hours by William Merritt Chase. Both paintings are in the Met’s exhibition American Stories: Paintings of Everyday Life, 1765–1915. In exchange, the Mey has loaned them The Artist’s Wife and His Setter Dog (1884–89) by Thomas Eakins and Lydia Crocheting in the Garden at Marly (1880) by Mary Cassatt through January 25, 2010.
