Artist Talk: Salvador Rodriguez, Alexandra Abbott, and Jenny Swannack

December 13 - December 13,2023

From Dougherty Arts Center: "Learn firsthand the processes, inspiration, and techniques of artists Salvador Rodriguez, Alexandra Abbott, and Jenny Swannack. Salvador Rodriguez paints the magnificence of the deserts of Texas and beyond from great panoramic views. His studies take months and years of work including detailed research of the ecosystems, history, and myths of each environment in order to recreate their essence in stunning likeness. Finding Wholeness is a collection of paintings by Alexandra Abbott that explore a secret, magic world existing within the ordinary. Viewers can find the voluptuous curves of a flower, the movement of clouds across a desert landscape, insects steadily and silently working, rock walls stacked by hands hundreds of years ago and things so quiet they are hardly noticed. Synesthesia is described as a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Jenny Swannack is a synesthete, seeing letters, numbers, and time in color. Colored Sensations represents each month of the year and a certain date, reflecting the colors Swannack sees in each month and number. All gallery events are free and open to the public.
