The the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts, NCECA for short, is having it’s 47th annual conference in Houston on March 20-23. In addition to talking, hobnobbing, and exchanging professional secrets, the expected crowd of 5000 ceramic educators will hopefully attend the 100+ exhibitions around town, and in other Texas cities being held in coordination with the event. Three official NCECA exhibitions showcasing contemporary ceramics open soon, in advance of the conference: the NCECA Biennial juried show opens January 26 at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft; NCECA’s National Student Juried Exhibition opens February 15 at the nearby Glassell School of Art; and The Texas State K12 Juried Student Exhibition, sponsored by ClayHouston, will be on view at the Houston Central Library beginning March 15.
